| In recent years, new forms and techniques of
teaching have appeared, based on the Internet and on multimedia
applications. In the teleteaching Project VIROR, not only
lectures are transmitted to remote participants, but also the
teaching material itself is being enhanced by multimedia
applications. Interactive Java simulations are used to explain
complex structures during the lecture, as well as they are stored
in a multimedia database for asynchronous learning. Many didactic
considerations like guidance, analogy, and incentives are
required to inspire the potential user to actively use a
simulation applet. In this article, we present the didactic
background and the implementation of a sample applet on the DCT
taught in image processing lectures. |
